I don't know about you, but I am loving the meadow flowers growing everywhere at the moment. It brings out the inner hippy in me and makes me want to skip through fields pretending I'm Laura Ingles from Little House on the Prairie.
On a dog walk the other day, it lifted my spirits to see butterflies appear as I waded through the tall grass. It looked like nature's confetti, usually only available when Spring sheds her blossom. Handfuls of butterflies rose up from the earth and littered the sky.
Listening to Radio 2 recently, the conversation turned to grass verges being mown by the council. Meadow flowers had been carefully scattered by the local community, who became distraught when the council came along and mowed down their biodiversity project.
I suppose it isn't the fault of the council workers since they were just doing their job which, for years, was to keep the common land neat and tidy for people. But, as the council's job is to serve the people, maybe now it's time to alter the job description. People's heads have started to turn as environmental concerns become ever more important, maybe it's time to go back to nature and be friends again with the beauty, bees and butterflies.
I've sown a few packets of wildflower seeds in a patch in my garden and the colours are so pretty and vibrant. If you can, I encourage you to plant your own. It's exactly what we need in our newly blossoming world.
Nicely put.
