Squirreled Away

Inside the Squirrel family's home

Was full of acorns, hats and gloves

All squished up, it made them moan

Even through their endless love

The clutter around them grew and grew

Trying to hibernate was cruel

They knew they had to change their ways

Ged rid of their stuff to make some space

They would not move, even if they could

There were no trees left in the wood

No room left in their own sweet home

It was much too cold to go and roam

Instead that very Winter time

They set up a tent outside

While all their dear belongings

Stayed safe and dry inside

They wrapped up in their bushy tails

Trying to sleep through snow and hail

Wishing they were home, they had the huff

Instead of them, lay their stuff

So their things, they had to go

As they rememered all that snow

A stall was set up by their tree

For all the woodland folk to see

Creatures came from far and wide

To have their things for their inside

While the Squirrel family smiled with glee

At their clear home and to feel free

Next hibernation, they settled down

Cosy and warm, without a frown

Room to stretch and enough space

For some acorns each, in their own place

Out the front, there stood the tent

All empty now and getting wet

But it would be ideal in the sun

A party tent for friends to come
