Today was rife with procrastination. First, I went to brush my teeth and noticed that the sink was gooey with soap residue and toothpaste smears. I thought to myself 'that needs doing,' before turning off the taps and walking clear out of the room. Past the overflowing linen bin, I strolled, glancing and grimacing 'that needs doing' before skipping down the stairs, towards the sunny day. The washing up from the night before was piled up but I had to be out the house and so I slammed the door in it's face. ''That would need doing later.'
I do get around to these jobs but I am very good at putting them off. I look out of the window and crave to be outside. When I'm out for too long, I want to be back inside again and doing those chores that bored me off the premises to begin with.
My old neighbour used to say; 'Make hay when the sun shines' and today it did, so out I went. I didn't make hay but met up with friends. Everyone everywhere I went was smiling. Good weather seems to be infectiously feel-good. After my share of warm rays on my skin, I made my way home and eventually got on with my jobs but not before locking myself out and having to ask my mum to come round and please let me in. Of course, I had to reward her with a nice cup of tea in the garden, where we soaked up the last of the day's sunlight.
I don't know about you but I think procrastination is under-rated. Why 'do' when you can 'be' or as my dad likes to say; 'Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?' I'm typing this post at 11.50pm so am just within today's task of blogging on a Wednesday, which I like to do every week. Until next time...
ha ha I feel the same ,my downstairs basement which we had all done over into a beautiful living area, I have all my assortment of items to part with ,sell or donate. It becomes so overwhelming before I know it I run up the stairs & slam the door behind me with my back pressed against , it as if the items are crawling up the steps after me. I say it is too nice a day to waste down there I need to go out, another day will come by for me to do that chore !
