I was going to name this post something else but an enjoyable drama on TV at the moment beat me to it!
With all this snow and rain, my dogs seem to delight in running in and out of the back door without so much as a backward glance to all the muddy paw prints they leave. behind. I always have an old towel laid by the door mat which is just enough to dry each paw as the dogs file in one by one. However, there is still a considerable amount of dirt left on the downstairs floors - argh!
I had just ran out of yet more floor cleaner, when I had a brainwave (it doesn't happen often) and decided to mix a bucket with hot water and drop in a blend of essential oils to cleanse the floor and thus my soul at the same time. I must add that I am an aromatherapist but I hadn't thought of this before a therapist friend of mine told me that she put drops of essential oils in her hoover to make the rooms smell better. What a genius idea eh?
I must say that swishing my mop around my filthy floors, inhaling the scents of lavender, pine and marjoram essential oils, listening to Classic FM and with the heating turned slightly up, with my eyes closed, I could have been in Greece. I didn't shut my eyes for long though, as I didn't want to dip one of my stockinged feet into my bucket of mucky water.
I am writing this in my now clean kitchen which smells divine and it feels just the time of day that I might like a glass of wine if I were on holiday in Greece but I have to drive and collect my daughter from the bus stop later, plus I'm doing Dry January, but that's another story...
Enjoying reading your stories Clara!! The essential oils are a great idea! I will be trying that myself. 😊😘
