So, the famalam decided to try and fit two adults, two teenagers and two dogs plus luggage into our Mini Clubman for our week long holiday to Devon. As the glass 'bone dry' member of the family, I had the most doubts but my husband surprised me and in we all crammed, along with a surfboard strapped to the roof. He failed to mention the added extra addition of giving our dogs kippers an hour before we all set off on our journey. At first, there were just three humans in the car as we had to pick up our older daughter via Oxford on the way. By the time we picked her up, the younger daughter had been travel sick - luckily over the car park floor, rather than all over the car interior. In we all inhaled our very own fish scent for the next four hours until we finally reached the long, windy road towards Barnstaple by 2am, when I noticed lights flashing behind me. I pulled over to speak to the police who asked if I was tired as my vehicle was sashaying all over the road. I gulped and said I would swap driving with my husband. We arrived at our holiday cottage half an hour later, where we disembarked and staggered sleepily to our beds, dogs padding gratefully behind us.
