My Dad loves going food shopping - he always has. He says that you have to wheel your trolley down every aisle otherwise you're cheating. Another thing he swears by, is a list. There's always one on the go sitting on his kitchen side. I've copied this tradition but been tempted along the way to add non-essential items to my basket. Today, however, I am the new me. I only shopped for items on my list and did not get sidetracked (apart from the pain au chocolat). I had also saved some money off coupons which I remembered to bring with me (what's going on?). I would usually spend £200 on my weekly shop but today it cost £118.63!
The lady on the checkout and I got chatting and she said that her friends and her said that by working they didn't feel guilty about spending money. But, she said it was much easier being at work than at home, where she would constantly be asked by her family to do things. She now believes that those at home should feel less bad for spending money because they work harder. I like that lady. She talks a lot of sense. Being a housewife and mother is the hardest job I've ever done.
