Now 'No Spend November' is finally over, I met my friend for Christmas cocktails in Selfridges to celebrate the season and life in general. It was good to catch up and have lunch in the roof top restaurant, which was decorated like a Nordic cabin. The menu was Italian style tapas and I had the most delicious mini lasagne washed down with a peach Bellini..
We ordered cappuccinos after eating but they looked just like dishwater, so my friend assertively but politely asked if we could put a fresh order in for two cortado coffees to be on the safe side. After a long wait, I asked if our drinks were on their way. The waiter said, "If you have ordered them, they will come." Two minutes later, he returned to say, "I'm sorry but your order was forgotten...it should be with you shortly."
We mooched about in the gift section later but even with alcohol in our bloodstreams, we couldn't succumb to the ridiculously expensive candles on display, no matter how scrumptious they smelt. We wandered on and found ourselves next to the champagne bar, so waited to hop up on the sumptuous red bar stools. It would have been rude not to. A few cocktails later, we jumped down, heading back into the crowds towards the Tube and homeward bound...
